The year sisters Freda Yaeger and Nellie Cuny opened their cafe--they don't recall whether it was 1980 or 1981--a San Francisco tour bus got stranded nearby. The two good-natured women let the travelers use their cooking facilities and dip into their tractor diesel fuel supply. Ever since, the tiny cafe with seating for 20--maybe--has been a stop on the tour company's cross-country summer treks. Other buses stop here too, yet the remote eatery on a dirt road on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation doesn't advertise and doesn't need to. Word of mouth alone brings in the crowds, and you can see by the guest book that they come from all over the world.   From: Kidstuff-Badlands National Park
